Puppies are small children. Puppies discover the world through their teeth. Puppy chewing is how they learn. Puppies will be teething until 6 months. TIP 1 – Puppy-proof your house Keep all chewable items out of reach. Don’t allow your children to leave shoes on the floor.
TIP 2: Give him toys he likes to chew on. You should not give him old socks or shoes. While soft squeak toys make great games for puppies and older dogs, they are not sturdy enough to be chewed by older pups.
TIP 3: If you’re going to be out of the house for longer periods, you can limit your access to the living area, bedroom, and bathroom. Or you can close the door entirely.
TIP 4 – If your dog chews something that isn’t supposed to be, you can interrupt him by making a loud sound and then give him a chew toy. Keep in mind that you must be calm and dependable, rather than emotionally.
TIP 5 – Teach your puppy to not bite any part of the human body. Did you realize that biting family members can be used to establish dominance.
TIP 6: To help your puppy chew, freeze a moist washcloth.
TIP 7 – Never punish your dog for something that happened after the fact. Puppy dogs associate punishment and what they are doing at the moment they’re being punished.
